Metroid II by jofamo Metroid II by jofamo
I'm mightily proud of this. My very first digital painting, completely done with a mouse.

EDIT : Added a Gamma Metroid to the left, and some more details in the BG.

This is a beautiful piece! Who says games aren't art?! Or at least inspire it!

Four hours with a mouse is fairly insane there, Jof. I'd be lucky to have this done in a month doing that... XD
Lighting is loverly, specially around Samus.
There's only one thing I don't really like about it, and that's the way everything is a little regimental. The Metroids are over there, Samus is there and the Gamma is there... they don't really mesh together into a single image, just three smaller ones beside each other.

Nice one, how long did this actually take? Must have been at last a good couple of hours straight if not over a long span

It's really good, however it seems so empty. However if you were concentrating on the background in this picture rather than the characters, that you did a brilliant job.

I wanted to portray the characters rather small to sort of get across the atmosphere of Metroid 2, that is being along in an alien planet fighting Metroids. It's a massive place and it's easy to get lost in.

Seeing as how I've never played Metroid II, I wouldn't of guessed =P

I have to try some of the older games someday.

I have to say the detail and lighting are very stunning. (Let alone the fact that you did this with a mouse o_O ) I just find it intriguing that you put more detail into the characters rather than the background.

I think this is probably down to me not usually drawing BG at all, I'm pretty inexperienced in that area, but thats something I wantd to push in this picture.

Mouse?! How did you do that? Custom brush?

Nope, no custom brushes, just the plain circular one, 41% opacity and 20-something% flow.

As long as the music isn't chosen by any of my relatives, I'm up for that.
